Dedicated Data Connection
In the iWired portal locate the Cat5 phone module and the Coax video module. Install the Cable Modem in the panel by connecting a Coax (TV) cable from our video module into the Modem. Next locate the Cat5 (telephone) cable in the phone module where the high speed data connection is to be located, i.e.: (Master Bedroom, Kitchen, Game Room, etc.). Remove that wire from the phone module and plug it into the Ethernet port on the Cable Modem. For your computer, plug a Cat5 patch cord from the Cat5 wall jack into the back of your computer's Ethernet (NIC) card. Check to make sure all lights are on in the front of your Cable Modem.
Hard Wired High Speed Data Network
To create a hard-wired high speed data network of computers in your house follow the steps above for a single computer. Additionally you will need a router (with firewall recommended). Using a Cat5 Ethernet patch cord, attach the modem to the WAN port of the router. Locate the labeled Cat5 wire plugged into the phone module, for the room you would like to network. Remove the corresponding wire from the phone module and plug it into an available port on the router. In each room that is being networked, plug a Cat5 patch cable into the wall jack and the back of the computer into the Ethernet (NIC) card. Reboot the cable modem and check to see that all lights are lit on both modem and router. CAUTION: Do not plug the computer into the wall jack while your Cat5 run is still plugged into the phone module at the portal. This will cause the phone module to malfunction and your phone lines will be temporarily inoperative.
Hooking Up Speakers to a Pre-wired Home Theater
If you purchased a pre-wire with audio ports simply unscrew the ports on the wall revealing a small hole where a speaker wire (minimum 16 gauge recommended) can be inserted. In the case of a theater set up, make sure the ports correspond to the outputs of your receiver. For example, left front to left front port, rear left to surround left port of your receiver, etc. If you have purchased additional audio pre-wires in other rooms, locate the Left Channel/Right Channel port on your wall and attach to your B channel of your receiver. Our volume controls are all impedence matching to regulate the output demand from your receiver's B channel, if equipped. Remember, red port is the positive lead of your speaker wire and black port is the negative lead. If you did not request ports with your pre-wire, then the wiring will be located behind blank plates and may require a professional installer.

How Do I get My Second Line Set up with only 1 telephone jack?
All of the telephone jacks in your house are wired to accept up to 4 different phone numbers. To get a second phone number you will need to have a two line set or provide a 2-line splitter (Triplex adapter) to break out the second phone number. The splitter plugs right into the jack that you want the second line to appear on. For a third or fourth phone number, you will need a 4 line breakout splitter. Call 1-800-238-1774 to obtain information on how to purchase.
